NEOM Megacity Completes Underground Parking and Light Rail Systems

In a groundbreaking achievement, Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion megacity NEOM has successfully completed the construction phases of its underground parking and light rail systems. This marks a significant milestone in the city’s ambitious zero-carbon initiative.

XCMG Machinery Plays a Crucial Role

Assisted by 10 high-capacity rotary drilling rigs from Chinese construction manufacturing company XCMG Machinery, NEOM’s world’s largest integrated development project managed to complete three piles per day per drilling rig. The efficiency of XCMG’s rotary drilling rigs was crucial in handling deep foundation work despite challenging sandy geologies.

A Futuristic Region Powered by Renewable Energy

Led by the Public Investment Fund, NEOM aims to become a futuristic region in northwest Saudi Arabia powered entirely by renewable energy. The city is home to The Line, Oxagon, Trojena, and Sindalah, prioritizing sustainability and establishing a new model for sustainable living, working, and prospering.

Efficiency and Reliability Highlighted

Despite facing challenges, the XR600E drilling rig, the largest-tonnage drilling rig deployed in the construction of NEOM city, demonstrated reliability and superior performance in completing tasks ahead of schedule. NEOM’s goal of zero carbon emissions and sustainable energy use is further supported by this achievement.

Expansion and Growth in NEOM

With over 140,000 construction workers engaged on-site since 2017, NEOM continues to expand and grow. Recent announcements include the development of a new marina and community called Jaumur on the Gulf of Aqaba. The city is also set to welcome a luxury resort in the Magna development, offering a range of exclusive residential options and hotel accommodations along the picturesque coastline.
