Meet Amer Abu Obeid, the dynamic president of cargo ground handling at SAL Saudi Logistics Services. Since taking on this role in March of this year, Abu Obeid has been at the forefront of managing and leading commercial and operational activities across all 18 airports in Saudi Arabia.

In his capacity as the head of operations, Abu Obeid is responsible for overseeing daily requirements to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in cargo handling at the airports. This includes supervising staff, coordinating with airlines and regulatory bodies, optimizing resource allocation, and implementing technology solutions to streamline processes and maintain high standards of safety and compliance.
A Dual Role: Operational and Commercial
Beyond his operational duties, Abu Obeid also serves as the head of commercial, where he drives the company’s commercial strategy and revenue growth. He oversees sales, customer relationships, and business development, identifying new opportunities, negotiating contracts, developing pricing strategies, and enhancing customer satisfaction. He works closely with other departments to align commercial objectives with operational capabilities to meet financial targets.
A Career Rooted in Sales and Marketing
With a background in sales and marketing, Abu Obeid brings a deep understanding of the cargo and logistics industry to his role. Prior to joining SAL, he held executive positions at Saudia Airline, leading the formulation and implementation of commercial strategy to align with the company’s objectives. Starting his business career in the banking industry over 26 years ago, Abu Obeid transitioned to the air cargo industry in 2009, rapidly rising through the ranks at Saudia Cargo.
Education and Expertise
Abu Obeid holds a degree in economics from Yarmouk University in Jordan, underscoring his commitment to excellence and leadership in the cargo ground handling industry.
