Massive Turnout for Saudi Mangrove Planting Event – 100+ Participants!

Red Sea Global Hosts Celebratory Mangrove Planting Initiative

In a show of commitment to environmental conservation, more than 100 volunteers gathered to participate in a mangrove planting event in Riyadh to commemorate the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem.

Hosted by Saudi developer Red Sea Global, the event was graced by representatives from the Ministry of Environment and students from the Red Sea Global English for Tourism program, adding to the significance of the occasion.

Highlighting the importance of mangrove trees in carbon removal, an RSG spokesman emphasized their ability to absorb five to ten times more carbon than other plants, making them invaluable assets in the fight against climate change.

Raed Albasseet, the group’s chief environment and sustainability officer, underscored the company’s dedication to establishing a sustainable mangrove ecosystem as part of their mission to protect and enhance the natural environment of their destinations.

Since the opening of the Red Sea Mangrove Nursery last year, Red Sea Global has successfully transplanted a million seedlings and aims to grow an additional 2 million this year, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship.

The mangrove planting initiative is just one component of the broader “From People to Planet” program, which invites community members, RSG partners, and visitors to the Red Sea destination to participate in future planting projects, fostering a sense of shared responsibility for environmental conservation.

With the Red Sea already welcoming its first guests and three hotels in operation, the ambitious development project envisions a total of 50 resorts spread across 22 islands and six inland sites by 2030, signaling a new chapter in sustainable tourism and environmental protection.
