“Record-Breaking Achievement at King Abdulaziz Port: Over 20,000 Containers Handled on a Single Ship!”

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port Breaks Record in Container Handling

In a remarkable feat for the maritime sector, the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in container handling. The port made history by successfully managing 20,645 standard containers on a single vessel, the Cosco Shipping Aquarius 036E. This impressive achievement highlights the port’s vital role in facilitating trade movement and bolstering the logistics sector.

The record-breaking accomplishment at King Abdulaziz Port is in alignment with the ambitious goals set forth in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The strategy aims to position the Kingdom as a key global logistics hub that seamlessly connects three continents. This success also underscores the Saudi Ports Authority, Mawani’s, commitment to enhancing port efficiency and strengthening the Kingdom’s connections with global markets to support national exports.

To further enhance its capabilities, ongoing infrastructure developments at King Abdulaziz Port include the recent addition of 21 coastal and bridge cranes. These improvements are part of a comprehensive development plan that has received an investment of SR7 billion ($1.86 billion) from commercial support contracts with Saudi Global Ports Co., a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund.

In a significant partnership with the Chinese company SANY, the port has secured a landmark contract for the supply of 80 electric trucks. This deal marks the largest single contract for electric trucks ever signed by the Chinese firm and demonstrates the port’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

With these strategic enhancements, King Abdulaziz Port is poised to strengthen its competitive edge and solidify its international reputation in maritime transport and logistics. The port’s continued growth and development signal a promising future for Saudi Arabia’s maritime sector.
