Saudi Arabia Stands in Solidarity with Sudan at UN Human Rights Council

During the 57th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its unwavering support for Sudan, as reported by the state news agency SPA.

Emphasizing the Need for Protection and Humanitarian Aid

Abdulmohsen bin Majed bin Khothaila, Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, delivered a powerful statement on the Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Sudan. He highlighted the critical importance of safeguarding Sudan and its people from further devastation and worsening humanitarian conditions.

Conflict and Chaos in Sudan

The ongoing conflict in Sudan, with the Sudanese army led by Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan pitted against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has resulted in a catastrophic loss of life, displacement of millions, and one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises.

Call for International Support and Peace

Khothaila stressed the urgent need to protect civilians, aid workers, and humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of essential aid. Saudi Arabia called on the international community to prioritize the interests of the Sudanese people, halt the conflict, safeguard state institutions, and guide Sudan towards safety and stability.

Saudi Arabia urged global cooperation in protecting Sudan and its people, supporting efforts to restore security and stability in the country.
