Riyadh: King Salman Competition Wraps Up in Mauritania
The excitement was palpable as the King Salman Competition for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah came to a thrilling conclusion in Mauritania, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday.
A star-studded closing ceremony in Nouakchott saw the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to Mauritania Abdulaziz Al-Raqabi, the Grand Mufti of Mauritania Sheikh Ahmed Ould Murabit, Mauritanian officials, and a gathering of Arab and Muslim diplomats.
In a recorded speech, Saudi Islamic Minister Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Asheikh expressed his gratitude to Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for hosting the prestigious event, which drew in 136 talented contestants from 16 West African countries.
Al-Raqabi took the stage to highlight the competition’s crucial role in promoting the memorization of the Qur’an and Sunnah, as reported by the SPA.
Secretary-General of the Mauritanian Ministry of Islamic Affairs Beyte Allah Ahmed Leswed, and the Minister of Islamic Affairs Sidi Yahya Cheikhna Lemrabott commended Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support towards Islam and its efforts in promoting moderation.
The grand mufti emphasized the competition’s significance in nurturing moderate Islamic values and combating extremism, marking a pivotal moment in the journey towards a more harmonious society.
