Madinah Launches the 2024 National Planting Season

In an effort to promote sustainable environmental development and vegetation growth, Ayman bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, director general of the environment, water and agriculture branch in Madinah, has officially kicked off the “2024 National Planting Season” in the city.

This program is part of the ministry’s nationwide campaign “We Plant for Our Future,” which aligns with the Saudi Green Initiative and aims to support the environment through planting initiatives.

With 36 volunteer programs involving over 1,800 participants, both female and male, the regional campaign plans to plant 50,000 water-efficient and environmentally sustainable seedlings. These include mesquites, thorn jujube, sweet acacia trees, and 20 other wild plant species to raise awareness about environmental and agricultural preservation.

The first phase of the campaign will target education facilities, Prince Sultan Military Medical City, and the Saudi Authority for Industrial and Technology Zones (Modon). The focus will be on expanding green spaces, improving planting processes, and encouraging community-wide participation in vegetation preservation efforts.
