Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Discusses Bilateral Agreements with the US
In a recent statement, Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister emphasized that some of the bilateral agreements being negotiated with the United States are not solely dependent on the normalization of Saudi relations with Israel. These agreements, particularly in the areas of trade and artificial intelligence, are progressing independently and could move forward quickly.
However, the minister acknowledged that defense cooperation agreements are more complex and may require factors outside of their control to be finalized before the end of the Biden administration’s term.
Saudi Arabia Stands Firm on Palestinian Statehood
Prince Faisal ruled out the possibility of Saudi Arabia recognizing Israel without the establishment of a Palestinian state, stating that this remains the only viable solution based on international law and UN resolutions. He emphasized that the creation of a Palestinian state is a crucial component that cannot be bypassed.
Addressing the Crisis in Gaza
At the Future Investment Initiative summit in Riyadh, Prince Faisal called for a cease-fire in Gaza, highlighting the humanitarian catastrophe caused by Israel’s military assault. He stressed the importance of addressing the rights of Palestinians to ensure regional security and stability.
Saudi Arabia’s Position on Lebanon and Iran
Prince Faisal emphasized a hands-off approach towards Lebanon, stating that it is up to Lebanese politicians to navigate the country’s political landscape. He also discussed discussions with Iran focused on regional de-escalation, underscoring the need to avoid further escalation in the region.
