Linking Jordan’s Risha Gas Field to Arab Gas Pipeline
A focal point of the discussions was the feasibility of connecting Jordan’s Risha Gas Field to the Arab Gas Pipeline through a 300-km link, following recent studies confirming commercially viable gas reserves in the field.
Enhancing Regional Infrastructure
The Arab Gas Pipeline, spanning over 1,200 km, facilitates the transportation of natural gas from Egypt to Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon, enhancing connectivity and bolstering energy security in the Middle East.
Exploring Gas-Related Projects
The talks also delved into potential collaborations on gas-related projects, including plans to expand the use of natural gas in vehicles in Jordan and Egypt.
Technical Meetings and Joint Exploration Efforts
Both ministers agreed to arrange technical meetings between Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Egyptian General Petroleum Co. to advance joint oil and gas exploration efforts within Jordan, aiming to facilitate knowledge-sharing and support the country’s energy development ambitions.
Agreement Between Egypt Gas Co. and Aqaba Development Co.
An agreement was recently signed between Egypt Gas Co. and Jordan’s Aqaba Development Co. to supply natural gas to Quweira Industrial City in Aqaba, including provisions for constructing a natural gas pipeline network and establishing infrastructure in compliance with safety standards.
Focus on Increasing Investment in Egypt’s Oil and Gas Sector
Badawi announced plans to introduce a policy paper aimed at attracting investors in Egypt’s oil and gas sector, spanning across oil, gas, refining, and petrochemical industries.
TotalEnergies’ Exploration and Production Activities
TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne discussed the company’s efforts to boost output at the Bashrush Gas Field, its involvement in the Idku liquefaction plant, and expansion into jet fuel supply and marketing during a meeting with Badawi. Pouyanne also expressed interest in acquiring new exploration areas in the Mediterranean.
