Journalistic flair meets technological innovation in the heart of Riyadh as the finals of the Allam Challenge kick off. With participants from 17 nations, this event aims to push the boundaries of Arabic language technology, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Hosted at Digital City’s Crowne Plaza, this three-day extravaganza, concluding on Saturday, is a joint effort between the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority and the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones. Providing technical support are industry giants IBM and the National Technology Development Program.
Contestants are tasked with developing AI models that can compose and analyze Arabic poetry, tackle complex grammatical structures, and create interactive language learning tools for children. With a prize pool of SR1 million ($260,000) up for grabs, the stakes are high.
Participants will have the chance to showcase their skills in enhancing large language models, benefiting from mentorship and workshops led by over 50 mentors and 40 judges. This diverse group includes AI experts and Arabic language specialists, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of each project.
These esteemed experts will guide teams in developing innovative solutions, focusing on sustainability and real-world application. The ultimate goal is to transform these projects into AI initiatives that cater to the needs of the Arabic language across various sectors, as highlighted by the SPA.
