Saudi Teams Shine at 2024 Aramco Formula 1 in Schools World Finals
In a thrilling display of talent and innovation, three Saudi teams have clinched prestigious awards at the 2024 Aramco Formula 1 in Schools World Finals.
Hosted for the first time in the Kingdom at Dhahran Expo, over 450 students from around the globe competed in the event from Nov. 23-26. The finalists were selected from an impressive pool of 29,000 schools worldwide.
Victory for Clad, Oryx, and Shaheen
The Clad team stood out by winning the Enterprise Portfolio Award, while Oryx impressed the judges with the Best Engineered Car. Shaheen also made their mark by clinching the Best Application of Project Management title.
With 55 teams in the mix, competitors showcased their skills by designing, building, and racing miniature F1 cars on a 20-meter track. The participants, ranging from nine to 19 years old, included a significant number of female students, highlighting the diversity and inclusivity of the competition.
Commitment to Future Leaders
This event underscores Aramco’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Leading the charge in preparing the Saudi teams was the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, also known as Ithra. Over a rigorous nine-month training period, 37 experts from six specialized centers guided the teams in honing their skills in engineering, design, and teamwork.

The Aramco Formula 1 in Schools World Finals has emerged as a vital platform for cultivating Saudi Arabia’s budding scientific talent and showcasing their innovative prowess on a global scale.
Following their success at the 2023 World Finals in Singapore, where they bagged awards in Innovative Thinking, Women in Motorsport, and Identity categories, the Saudi teams continue to make their mark in the creative industries of the future.

The program’s comprehensive curriculum covers a wide array of subjects including physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacturing, branding, graphic design, sponsorship, marketing, leadership, teamwork, media skills, and financial strategies.
