Saudi Arabia Surpasses Vision 2030 Target of 1 Million Volunteers
Breaking news from Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has exceeded its ambitious Vision 2030 goal of 1 million volunteers six years ahead of schedule, as confirmed by the CEO of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector.
Speaking exclusively to Arab News during COP16, Ahmed Al-Suwailem revealed that the Kingdom’s volunteering initiative reached the milestone ahead of the anticipated deadline in 2024.
Celebrating a Major Achievement
This significant achievement aligns with Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting volunteering and community engagement across the nation.
“Today, we are celebrating a monumental accomplishment in the realm of volunteering. I express my deepest gratitude to his Majesty, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support that enabled us to reach this incredible milestone of 1 million volunteers annually,” stated Al-Suwailem.
“We have not only met but exceeded our target ahead of schedule, demonstrating the dedication and enthusiasm of our people towards volunteerism,” he added.
Setting New Goals
Looking ahead, Al-Suwailem revealed plans to set new targets and assess the potential for further growth in volunteering initiatives by 2030.
“Our success in achieving this target was made possible through the continuous support of our leadership and the active participation of our citizens,” he emphasized.
He emphasized the importance of global citizenship and the role of volunteering in supporting the objectives of Vision 2030, particularly in advancing the Saudi Green Initiative to drive sustainable development and economic diversification.

Highlighting the collaborative efforts between government entities, the private sector, and the nonprofit sector, Al-Suwailem emphasized the critical role of volunteers in achieving national goals.
“People are the key element in realizing our targets and driving positive change in our society,” he concluded.
