Breaking News: Arab Woman Elected to Lead World Customs Organization
In an unprecedented move, the World Customs Organization has chosen Munerah Al-Rasheed as the first Arab woman to head up its Regional Intelligence Liaison Offices for 2025 and 2026. This historic decision was announced by the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday.
Al-Rasheed’s appointment took place during the 31st Global Meeting of the RILO, held at the prestigious WCO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1. With close to two decades of experience under her belt, Al-Rasheed previously held the role of vice president and director of the RILO for the Middle East at the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.
During her tenure, she successfully represented 11 local Saudi Arabia offices in the Middle East region at various international meetings, conferences, and workshops. Al-Rasheed’s remarkable leadership and expertise have paved the way for a new chapter in the world of customs intelligence.
