Japan Embassy’s Exclusive Iftar with Saudi Alumni – You Won’t Believe What Happened!

Riyadh: Japan’s Embassy Hosts Iftar for Saudi Alumni

Japan’s embassy in Riyadh hosted an iftar on Tuesday, bringing together Saudi Arabian citizens who had graduated from universities and academic institutions in Japan.

In his address, Fumio Iwai, the Japanese ambassador in the Kingdom, highlighted the important role played by the alumni in strengthening the ties between Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Speaking about bilateral relations, Iwai mentioned the mutual visits of leaders from both countries, including Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s trip to Riyadh last July.

He also mentioned the keen interest of Japan’s private sector companies in expanding their presence in Saudi Arabia, with 40 agreements signed in various business sectors last year and seven Japanese companies opening offices in the Kingdom.

On the tourism front, Iwai revealed that Japan’s government has started issuing electronic visas for Saudi citizens and residents, along with multiple-entry visas for qualified individuals.

Looking ahead to the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations on June 7, Iwai expressed hope for increased cultural exchanges. He highlighted the success of the Japan Festival in November, which drew 3,000 attendees.

During the iftar event, participants engaged in discussions on how to further develop the alumni network and strengthen the bonds between Saudi Arabia and Japan.
