Saudi Student Clubs in the UK Host Qur’an Recitation Competitions
In a bid to strengthen spiritual and cultural ties, Saudi student clubs in the UK have organized a series of Qur’an recitation competitions during the holy month of Ramadan.
Supervised by the Saudi Cultural Bureau, 21 clubs have come together to participate in the events aimed at fostering a sense of community among Saudi scholarship students based in Britain.
To accommodate greater participation, the competitions will be held remotely. Qualifying heats will determine the top five participants from each group who will advance to the final stage, the date of which will be announced soon.
A panel of judges consisting of Qur’an memorizers and certified individuals in memorization will evaluate the participants. Criteria for assessment include intonation, delivery, and overall performance, with an emphasis on professionalism and excellence.
The initial phase of the qualifiers took place over the weekend, with women and children competing on Saturday and men on Sunday.
Organizers are optimistic that these competitions will not only showcase the talent of the participants but also cultivate a greater appreciation for the Holy Qur’an among Saudi scholarship students in the UK, a popular destination for students from the Kingdom.
