Gargee’an Festivities at King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture
DHAHRAN: The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture was buzzing with energy as boys in crisp white thobes and girls in colorful jalabiyas, along with their families, gathered for the Gargee’an festivities.
The three-night event, which wrapped up on Sunday, was a vibrant celebration of a traditional festival that marks the middle of Ramadan with joyous fervor.

Gargee’an, meaning the giving of gifts or goods, was celebrated at Ithra with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities for children of all ages, including performances of traditional folk songs.
One of the highlights was the Energy Exhibit featuring the Chocolate Slime Factory, where attendees could create chocolate treats mixed with nuts.

The popular Stories on Wheels bus provided an immersive storytelling experience for visitors, engaging them with captivating tales.

At the children’s museum, a captivating story time unfolded, featuring a humble clothespin’s desire to join the family’s Ramadan festivities. Children were encouraged to decorate their own clothespin at the crafts table as a keepsake.
Dr. Ola Al-Shuhail, accompanied by her daughter Luluwah Al-Hamdan, shared her excitement about the festivities, saying: “I heard about the celebrations on social media and decided to come and experience Gargee’an at Ithra for the first time. We live in Riyadh but are moving to Alkhobar.
“I am pleasantly surprised by the building, the organization, and how well they cater to children. It’s a wonderful experience. Luluwah is enjoying herself and is currently engrossed in some crafts.”
Al-Hamdan proudly introduced her decorated clothespin, named Crusty, which she had adorned with googly eyes.
