In a generous gesture, King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have made donations totalling SR150 million ($40 million) to the Jood Eskan charity campaign, affiliated with the Jood Housing platform.
The King’s contribution of SR100 million, combined with the crown prince’s donation of SR50 million, exemplifies their unwavering support for housing programs and national initiatives aimed at providing homes for the most vulnerable families in Saudi Arabia.
Leadership Support for Housing Programs
Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail expressed gratitude for the leadership’s support, emphasizing its significant impact on ensuring suitable housing units for those in need.
Jood Eskan Campaign and Jood Housing Platform
The Jood Eskan campaign, operating during the holy month of Ramadan, is dedicated to securing housing for low-income families by rallying charitable contributions from philanthropists and institutions to assist the most disadvantaged individuals.
The Jood Housing platform, an initiative of the National Developmental Housing Foundation (Sakan), aims to engage community members in development programs and foster social solidarity within the housing sector.
Saudi Vision 2030 and Homeownership Goals
Launched in 2019 by Sakan, a nonprofit arm of the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, Jood Eskan is a Saudi crowdfunding platform that provides financial support and services to eligible families, including assistance with rent and homeownership.
Aligning with Saudi Vision 2030, the national homeownership rate is targeted to increase from 47 percent in 2016 to 70 percent by 2030, reflecting the country’s commitment to enhancing housing opportunities for its citizens.
