Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Holds High-Level Meeting in Makkah

In a strategic move, Saudi Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmad Al-Rajhi convened a crucial meeting with key business representatives from the private sector in Makkah on Tuesday. The meeting took place at the prestigious headquarters of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce, setting the stage for a high-level discussion on the labor-market strategy and achievements between 2019 and 2023.

During the meeting, Al-Rajhi delved into the impressive statistics showcasing the growth in the number of Saudi nationals employed in the private sector, which saw a surge from 1.7 million to 2.3 million. Of particular note was the remarkable increase in women’s participation, soaring from 17 percent to an impressive 35.3 percent, surpassing the ambitious Vision 2030 target of 30 percent.

Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector in driving development and supporting the labor-market strategy, Al-Rajhi emphasized the significance of leveraging national talent for seasonal work and empowering the country’s youth in professions that foster skill development. He highlighted the vital role of seasonal visas, which are projected to reach 59,000 this year, in addressing staffing challenges faced by companies during peak seasons like Hajj and Umrah.

Following his insightful remarks, engaging discussions unfolded between the minister and the Makkah business delegates, as well as chamber committee chairs representing various sectors such as Hajj and Umrah, transportation, subsistence, and hotels. Al-Rajhi proposed the establishment of a joint task force between his ministry and the chamber to delve deeper into shared challenges and explore potential opportunities for collaboration and growth.
