Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy meets with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Environment and Natural Resources

In a high-profile meeting, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, held talks with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev. Babayev, who has been appointed as the president of the upcoming UN COP29 climate talks in Baku in November, discussed various opportunities for collaboration between the two countries in the field of climate change.

Joint Efforts to Achieve UN Climate Change Goals

During the meeting, the ministers delved into discussions about joint efforts to achieve the goals set out by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement. The Kingdom’s ministry stated that the ministers reviewed Saudi Arabia’s extensive efforts and initiatives in dealing with the effects of climate change, including the utilization of renewable energy sources and the management, reduction, and elimination of emissions through the Saudi and Middle East green initiatives.

Implementing Circular Carbon Economy Approach

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the implementation of the circular carbon economy approach and its technologies, developed by the Kingdom during its G20 presidency. This approach has been endorsed by world leaders and is part of the national and regional programs and initiatives aimed at combating climate change.
