Saudi Arabia’s Culinary Arts Commission Hosts Remote World Food Atlas Meeting
In an effort to preserve and enhance food production methods for future generations, Saudi Arabia’s Culinary Arts Commission will be organizing a remote open World Food Atlas meeting on Wednesday.
Exploring the World Food Atlas Initiative
The meeting will delve into various aspects of the World Food Atlas initiative, including an introduction to the project and the Saudi Fund at UNESCO. Participants will also discuss the link between the World Food Atlas and the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as the connection between cultural heritage and culinary arts that inspired the atlas.
Benefits for Local Communities
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the expected returns for local communities joining the World Food Atlas platform, as well as gain a better understanding of the concept of “food way.”
Promoting Cultural Heritage
Last year, the commission launched the initiative, “The International Food Atlas and Digital Platform for Preserving, Promoting and Transmitting Foodways to Tomorrow’s Generations,” which aims to document cultural heritage for sustainable transmission across generations.
Engaging with Culinary Arts Community
This meeting is part of a series of open discussions organized by the commission to engage with the culinary arts community in the Kingdom. Participants will have the opportunity to share ideas and suggestions for developing the culinary arts sector in alignment with the goals of the commission and the national strategy for culture.
