In a bold move that is set to revolutionize trade connectivity between Saudi Arabia and India, the Saudi Ports Authority, also known as Mawani, announced on Thursday the introduction of the “RGI” shipping service at the Jeddah Islamic Port. This new initiative, brought by the Danish logistics company Unifeeder, is poised to offer expedited and secure solutions for exporters and suppliers, opening up new avenues for trade between the two nations.

In a statement, Mawani highlighted that the introduction of the RGI service not only strengthens maritime transport and logistics services but also demonstrates the unwavering confidence that investors have in the Kingdom’s terminals. This move solidifies Jeddah Islamic Port’s position as a key player in the region’s trade landscape.

As the Kingdom’s first dock for exports and imports, and the primary re-export point in the Red Sea, Jeddah Islamic Port boasts an impressive infrastructure with 62 multipurpose berths and a whopping capacity of 130 million tonnes. The new shipping service will connect the Jeddah terminal to key ports in India, the UAE, and Egypt through regular weekly trips, with a capacity of up to 2,824 twenty-foot equivalent units, further enhancing trade relations between the nations.
