During the discussions, Al-Khateeb also delved into investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s flourishing hospitality industry, engaging in fruitful conversations with Chinese investors eager to explore the kingdom’s vast potential.
Taking to his X account, Al-Khateeb shared his sentiments, stating: “During my visit to China, I met with Chinese investors and discussed the great potential and investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector and ways for collaboration to elevate the experience of tourists.”
Setting the Stage for Growth
With the Kingdom recently securing its official Approved Destination Status, effective July 1, following successful participation in the second China Roadshow and ITB China in Shanghai, a new chapter in group travel to Saudi Arabia has been opened, cementing its commitment to becoming a strategic economic partner with China.
This designation heralds new opportunities in the tourism sector, fostering mutual understanding, friendship, and economic development for both nations, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
With ambitions to make China its third-largest source market for international arrivals by attracting 5 million tourists by 2030, Saudi Arabia has been diligently preparing to be “China-ready,” with efforts including a significant increase in direct flights, the introduction of tailored products, and the establishment of strategic partnerships to enhance travel experiences.
Building Bridges for a Brighter Future
During his visit to China, Al-Khateeb also engaged in discussions with key figures such as Sun Yeli, minister of culture and tourism; Zhao Qi, chairman of Jin Jiang Group; and Peter Zheng, CEO of Maoyan Entertainment, exploring ways to enhance cooperation and build a sustainable future for the tourism sector.
In a separate statement, Al-Khateeb highlighted the shared values between Saudi and Chinese cultures, emphasizing the importance of family, tradition, and hospitality in fostering a strong relationship between the two nations.
The Kingdom’s tourism officials recently launched a global promotional campaign in Beijing, with the inaugural Saudi Travel Expo at Tiantan Park showcasing Saudi Arabia’s vibrant tourism offerings and readiness to welcome visitors from China.
Al-Khateeb led a delegation of senior officials and key partners from the tourism sector in a bid to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s position on the global map and forge strategic partnerships for the growth of the tourism sector in both countries.
