Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port Enhances Connections with India’s Nautical Hubs
In a groundbreaking development, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz Port has solidified ties with India’s maritime hubs through increased collaboration between two prominent Gulf maritime entities.
The Saudi Ports Authority revealed that Safeen Co., a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, has included the Dammam facility in its new UAE-India-Gulf service. This maritime trade route acts as a crucial passageway for transporting goods and commodities between India and the broader Arabian region, bolstering trade flows and supply chains while driving economic growth in the connected areas.
With the new shipping service linking the Kingdom with six regional and international seaports, including ports in India, Iraq, Qatar, and the UAE, the capacity to handle 3,700 standard containers demonstrates a significant boost in trade movement for the Saudi harbor. This initiative aligns with the port authority’s commitment to operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
As part of a broader strategy to enhance maritime connectivity, improve port competitiveness, and position Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub, the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam has witnessed the addition of 12 maritime shipping services in 2023. This expansion underscores the port’s ability to provide top-notch maritime services, serving as a pivotal trade gateway for regional and international clients.
Recent statistics released by the Saudi Ports Authority indicate a notable growth in imported containers and cargo throughput tonnage at the ports under its jurisdiction. The increase reflects ongoing efforts to enhance port infrastructure and deliver high-quality logistical services, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a key player in global trade and transportation.
