Boost your health with local fruits! Environment Ministry’s ‘Harvest Season’ campaign unveiled

Riyadh Launches “Harvest Season” Campaign to Support Local Farmers

In a move to promote locally produced fruits and improve the marketing system for Saudi farmers, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched an awareness campaign called “Harvest Season.”

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the campaign is designed to raise awareness about the importance of consuming local fruits, encourage a healthy lifestyle through buying local produce, and educate the public about agricultural products.

Saleh Bindakhil, the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the goal of the campaign is to highlight the health and nutritional benefits of various local fruits available throughout the year. The initiative aligns with the ministry’s policies, strategies, and the objectives of Vision 2030.

“Harvest Season” also aims to support the production of local goods, improve their quality and safety, raise awareness about agricultural produce and the health benefits of consuming local fruits, facilitate the marketing of local products, and bolster local farmers by increasing their income in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Bindakhil emphasized the substantial support the agricultural sector receives from the leadership, which has led to a boost in local crop production sustainability and an increase in the sector’s contribution to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product to SR100 billion.

This support has resulted in enhanced self-sufficiency rates for various fruits and agricultural crops, such as dates, figs, cantaloupes, watermelons, grapes, mangoes, and pomegranates.
