Riyadh Hosts Workshop to Boost Broiler Pigeon Breeding
In a bid to enhance food security and increase protein diversity, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture recently organized a workshop in Riyadh specifically for broiler pigeon breeders.
Aligned with the Vision 2030 goals, the workshop aimed to ramp up domestic production of poultry, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The goal was to provide breeders with the necessary knowledge and skills to elevate broiler pigeon production to 16 million birds annually, which translates to 12,000 tons of meat.
Through increased production and the adoption of modern breeding techniques, the ministry hopes to bolster food security and decrease dependence on imports.
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration with Saudi universities, the ministry highlighted the need for research that supports the productive and economic aspects of broiler pigeon breeding.
Broiler pigeon breeding is viewed as a promising endeavor in Saudi Arabia due to its significant contribution to food security and its potential to conserve natural resources.
By investing in this sector, the Kingdom aims to meet its national targets while promoting sustainable agriculture.
