In a remarkable display of growth and expansion, Saudi Arabia’s low-cost airline flyadeal has seen a significant increase in available seating capacity in the first half of this year, reaching a staggering 5 million. This marks a 9 percent rise compared to the same period in 2023, showcasing the airline’s rapid ascent in the aviation industry.

Expanding Horizons

Operating 75 routes during the first six months of 2024, flyadeal has experienced an 8 percent increase from the previous year. This growth not only solidifies its position in Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector but also aligns with the Kingdom’s vision to boost its global tourism profile and reduce its dependence on oil revenues.

From Local to Global

Founded in 2017, flyadeal operates a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft from bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, serving destinations across Saudi Arabia and expanding its international footprint in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With a 12 percent year-on-year growth, the airline now boasts 33 aircraft in its fleet in the first half of 2024.

CEO’s Vision

Steven Greenway, CEO of flyadeal, expressed the airline’s dedication to becoming the preferred choice not only in the Kingdom but also beyond. He emphasized the focus on service excellence and the introduction of digitally enabled products to elevate the customer experience. Greenway also highlighted the airline’s impressive on-time performance, reaching a peak of 91 percent.

A Growing Family

With a workforce expansion of 70 percent, flyadeal now employs 1,325 individuals by the end of the first half of 2024. Key milestones include a major order for 51 Airbus narrow-body aircraft, signaling the airline’s ambitious growth plans. Additionally, flyadeal welcomed its 50th batch of cabin crew and launched a cadet program for Saudi pilots, showcasing a commitment to nurturing talent.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, flyadeal anticipates reaching a cumulative total of 30 million passengers by the summer of 2024 since its inception seven years ago. With a strong focus on innovation, service excellence, and workforce development, the airline is poised for continued success and expansion in the competitive aviation landscape.
