Breaking: KSrelief and WHO join forces to enhance water and sanitation in Yemen health centers

Riyadh Takes Action: Saudi Arabia Signs $3.75 Million Deal with WHO to Aid Yemen

In a groundbreaking move, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has partnered with the World Health Organization to invest $3,750,000 in improving water and sanitation services in Yemen. This joint executive program, signed during the 77th WHO Health Assembly in Geneva, aims to provide sustainable water supplies to those most in need.

As part of the agreement, solar-powered wells equipped with pumps, water tanks, and connection pipes will be drilled in 10 health care facilities. Additionally, potable water supplies will be made available at 60 health care facilities, where water quality monitoring and treatment will be conducted.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of these efforts, training programs for the operation and maintenance of water supplies will be implemented. Furthermore, a tower tank in Al-Khawkhah district in Hodeidah will be constructed to enhance water access.

The initiative also includes plans to enhance water, sanitation, and hygiene services at Ma’rib Governorate Hospital and Matnah Hospital in Sanaa. This comprehensive approach demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to addressing the urgent humanitarian needs in Yemen.

The agreement was officially signed by KSrelief General Supervisor Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah and WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, marking a significant step forward in the collaborative efforts to support vulnerable populations in Yemen.
