In a high-level open discussion session hosted by the UN Security Council, the Saudi National Cybersecurity Authority made its mark. The session, titled “Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Addressing Evolving Threats in Cyberspace,” brought together senior officials, permanent representatives of member states, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the UN, led the Saudi delegation at the session. Alongside him were representatives from the cybersecurity authority, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

The session delved into the importance of developing a common understanding among states to enhance the Security Council’s role in tackling cyberthreats. Recognizing the Security Council’s primary responsibility for upholding international peace and security, the discussion also highlighted the potential risks posed by malicious activities in cyberspace.
