Is Ain Dubai Set to Spin Again Soon?
Dubai’s iconic Ain Dubai, the world’s largest Ferris wheel, has been at a standstill for two years. But there’s hope on the horizon as its owners hint at a possible reopening.
A representative from Dubai Holdings revealed that the towering tourist attraction, standing over 250 meters tall, has been undergoing maintenance. And now, the end of the hiatus may be in sight.
“We have no official date yet, but it may open within the next few months,” said Nathan Marchon.
For any updates on a potential restart date, keep an eye on the official Ain Dubai website.
Arab News caught wind of the news after spotting the massive wheel in motion on Wednesday.
Originally unveiled in October 2021 on Blue Waters Island, Ain Dubai boasts 48 capsules and has the capacity to carry up to 1,750 visitors. Shortly after its grand debut, Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum made headlines by being photographed kneeling atop one of the capsules, enjoying a cup of tea.
Record-Breaking and Pause
Despite holding the title for the world’s largest Ferris wheel—nearly double the height of the London Eye—Ain Dubai came to a halt in March 2022.
Initial reports suggested the suspension would be brief, lasting only two months.
