Breaking News: EU Eases Visa Requirements for Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain!

Simpler Travel to Europe for Saudi, Omani, and Bahraini Nationals

In a groundbreaking decision by the European Commission, travel to Europe is set to become more accessible for Saudi, Omani, and Bahraini nationals. This move comes as the EU relaxes visa rules, making it easier for citizens of these Gulf countries to visit the Schengen area.

New Schengen Visa Rules

EU Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Christophe Farnaud, announced the new Schengen visa rules during a press conference in Riyadh. Under these rules, successful applicants, including first-time applicants, will receive a multiple-entry visa valid for five years. This means travelers can visit 29 European countries using the same visa for five years.

Strengthening People-to-People Contacts

Farnaud emphasized that these visa changes are crucial for promoting people-to-people contacts and fostering exchanges between the EU and GCC citizens. He highlighted the strategic relationship between the Middle East region and Europe as the driving force behind these visa reforms.

Implementation of the Decision

The Schengen area comprises 29 European countries, including 25 EU states and four non-EU countries. Farnaud mentioned that member states will begin implementing the new visa rules following the official notifications. The envoy expressed his satisfaction with the positive responses from Saudi citizens and emphasized the importance of this development for bilateral relations.

Future Plans for E-Visas

While celebrating the visa changes, Farnaud also shared insights into Europe’s plans for e-visas. He mentioned that work is underway to introduce e-visas, but the process may take some time due to technical considerations and decisions by member states. Despite the timeline uncertainty, Farnaud assured that e-visas are on the horizon for travelers to Europe.
