Breaking News: Saudi Environmental Police Capture 3 Illegal Hunters in Arson Case

Saudi Authorities Crack Down on Environmental Violations

In a bold move to uphold the Kingdom’s environmental laws, Saudi authorities have apprehended three citizens for various offenses, including illegal hunting of wildlife and arson. The Special Forces for Environmental Security (SPES) made the announcement on Sunday, sending a strong message to those who disregard the country’s environmental regulations.

Illegal Hunting in King Salman Royal Natural Reserve

Ahmed Suleiman Maqbool Al-Sharari and Zahir Dhaif Allah Muslim Al-Sharari were nabbed by SPES field patrols for hunting without a license inside the prestigious King Salman Royal Natural Reserve (KSRNR). The duo were caught red-handed with a firearm, live ammunition, and a captured rabbit, violating multiple laws in one go.

Penalties for Environmental Violations

SPES has laid down strict penalties for such violations, with fines ranging from 5,000 riyals to 80,000 riyals for offenses like illegal hunting and using firearms without a license. The protection of wildlife and natural reserves is a top priority for Saudi Arabia, and those who flout the rules will face the consequences.

Protecting Saudi Arabia’s Natural Heritage

The KSRNR, spanning 130,000 square kilometers, stands as the largest natural reserve in Saudi Arabia, boasting a rich tapestry of geography and heritage. It is home to rare monuments dating back thousands of years, making it a treasure trove of natural wonders that must be preserved for future generations.

Cracking Down on Arson

In a separate incident, SPES also apprehended an individual for setting fire to vegetation cover in the northwestern province of Hail. The agency highlighted the severe penalty for such actions, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the environment from destructive practices like arson.

Reporting Environmental Violations

SPES has called on the public to play a role in protecting the environment by reporting any violations to the designated hotlines. By working together, the community can ensure that Saudi Arabia’s natural beauty remains intact for years to come.
