Saudi Fund for Development Boosting Emerging African Economies

In a move to support growth initiatives in emerging African economies, the Saudi Fund for Development has entered into a funding agreement with the African Development Bank Group. This partnership aims to promote sustainable progress and mutual objectives for international development.

Enhancing Social and Economic Growth

The memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties aligns with SFD’s goal of enhancing social and economic growth by creating diverse opportunities. The agreement also focuses on exchanging knowledge and experiences, advocating for optimal co-financing strategies, and supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.

Promoting Global Prosperity

The collaboration between SFD and the African Development Bank Group seeks to expand crucial opportunities in beneficiary African nations, ultimately contributing to global prosperity for impoverished communities. Since 1975, SFD has been instrumental in strengthening sustainable development on a global scale, supporting over 800 projects and development programs with a total value exceeding $20 billion.

Recent Initiatives

In recent years, SFD has made significant investments in the Caribbean region, including an $80 million financing agreement for the expansion of the University of the West Indies in Antigua and Barbuda. This funding aims to achieve sustainable development goals, promote scientific innovation, and enhance educational facilities. Additionally, SFD has signed development loan agreements with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for healthcare and infrastructure projects.

Building Bridges for Development

In Madagascar, SFD has laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Mangoky Bridge, connecting regions and reducing travel time for local farmers. This project, supported by a $20 million soft loan from SFD, highlights the fund’s commitment to facilitating development and growth in emerging economies.
