Ministers in Riyadh Call for Sanctions on Israel in Response to Gaza War

In a powerful gathering in Riyadh, ministers came together to discuss the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the urgent need for imposing sanctions on Israel, according to the Saudi Press Agency report on Sunday.

Led by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, the meeting, which included dignitaries from a coalition formed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Arab League, delved into the latest developments in Gaza.

The ministers unanimously called for international legal mechanisms to hold Israeli officials accountable and demanded decisive action against settler terrorism.

Representatives from Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Palestine, Qatar, and the OIC pushed for a halt in arms exports as a response to Israel’s flagrant violations of international law and war crimes in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

The meeting adamantly asserted that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territory, rejecting any attempts to displace the Palestinian population from their homeland or conduct military operations within the city of Rafah.

Additionally, ministers addressed the suppression of peaceful demonstrators in Western nations advocating for an end to the conflict in Gaza and condemning Israeli violations against Palestinians.

The focus of the meeting also centered on bolstering joint Arab and Islamic efforts to secure an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza, with a primary emphasis on protecting civilian lives and ensuring the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid.

A commitment was made to persist in international initiatives aimed at recognizing an independent Palestinian state, endorsing a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as its capital within the borders of June 4, 1967, in accordance with relevant international resolutions.
