Coalition Forces Dismiss Claims of Houthi Leader’s Brother’s Body Handover
In a fiery rebuttal, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, on Tuesday, denied allegations surrounding the handover of a Houthi leader’s brother’s body.
Al-Maliki made it clear in a press statement that the coalition views the handling of prisoners, detainees, and the recovery of fighters’ bodies as a purely humanitarian issue. He urged all parties to avoid politicizing such sensitive matters.
Dismissing the Houthi leader’s claims, which were spread by Houthi-affiliated websites, Al-Maliki branded them as false and lacking credibility. He clarified that the process of recovering and transferring bodies took place in June 2023. During this operation, the coalition retrieved the remains of nine Saudi soldiers and 20 Yemeni army personnel, while repatriating the bodies of 57 Houthi fighters who had perished along the border.
He went on to suggest that these deceptive allegations could have been concocted for internal purposes within the Houthi group. Al-Maliki also pointed out that the name mentioned in the Houthi statement was not part of the discussions for body recovery, hinting that the individual in question might have met their demise in conflicts unrelated to the coalition’s actions.
