Revolutionizing the Restaurant Industry with the Japanese Philosophy Kaizen
In a groundbreaking interview aired by MBC, Yahya Mohammed Al-Mualm, the visionary founder of Al-Romansiah, a prominent restaurant chain in Saudi Arabia, revealed the secret behind his company’s unprecedented success – the unwavering commitment to the Japanese business philosophy Kaizen.
Kaizen, which translates to “change for the better” or “continuous improvement,” has been the driving force behind Al-Mualm’s innovative approach to revolutionizing the restaurant industry.
Al-Mualm first encountered the concept of Kaizen in 2013, when he learned about it from an engineer who had worked in Japan.
Determined to enhance the production process and reduce customer waiting times, Al-Mualm decided to conduct an experiment within his restaurant.
He challenged five restaurant employees to package meals in a 50-meter space within a five-minute time frame. Surpassing all expectations, the staff managed to produce 12 packaged meals in the allotted time.
Building on this success, Al-Mualm then reduced the space to 25 meters and decreased the number of employees to three, while cutting the stock by half.
The pressure increased as the amount of food to package decreased, but the staff rose to the challenge and produced an impressive 23 packages in the same five-minute window.
Inspired by the results of his experiment, Al-Mualm embarked on a journey to Japan, where he had the opportunity to visit a Toyota factory and glean insights from their renowned production processes.
Upon his return, Al-Mualm wasted no time in signing a contract with the Japanese company to implement a new and improved production process at Al-Romansiah.
Specializing in traditional dishes like mandi, madfon, hummus, stuffed vine leaves, and mixed grills, Al-Romansiah continues to delight customers with its authentic flavors and commitment to excellence.
