Riyadh: King Abdulaziz Foundation Works on Comprehensive Atlas of Prophet Muhammad’s Life
In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Pilgrims Experience Program, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, known as Darah, is on a mission to create an all-encompassing atlas documenting the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
Initiated several years ago under the leadership of King Salman, who once chaired Darah’s board, and with unwavering support from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the oversight of Prince Faisal bin Salman, Darah’s chairman of the board of directors, this project is making significant progress.
Sultan Alawairidhi, Darah’s official spokesperson, emphasized that the project is rooted in Darah’s dedication to preserving Islamic and Arab history, leveraging their expertise in developing historical atlases.
With a team of historians, researchers, and scholars from universities and research centers, Darah is utilizing reliable sources and cutting-edge technologies to ensure the accuracy of the atlas.
The foundation’s goal is to meticulously document the locations and landmarks associated with the Prophet’s life, utilizing technologies such as geographic coordinates, satellite imagery, and precise maps.
By incorporating these advanced tools into the project, Darah aims to collaborate with relevant institutions and specialized researchers to achieve the atlas’s objectives effectively.
Furthermore, the project aims to create a scholarly reference on the Prophet’s biography, transforming historical texts into visual representations like diagrams, illustrations, and visual pathways.
Upon completion, the atlas will enable the tracking and understanding of the events in the Prophet’s biography, providing visual representations through illustrative materials and educational tools such as maps, illustrations, images, and diagrams.
Alawairidhi revealed that the atlas would also include supplementary materials, such as an interactive online platform, an exhibition on the Prophet’s biography, specialized publications for children, and an international conference focusing on the historical sites featured in the Prophet’s biography.
