At the sixth edition of the Supply Chain And Logistics Conference in Riyadh, Rumaih Al-Rumaih, vice minister of transport and logistics services and president of the Transport General Authority, emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in Saudi Arabia’s journey towards becoming a global logistics hub.

With Vision 2030 guiding the economic diversification initiative, Saudi Arabia is strategically investing in transport, infrastructure, and technology to reduce oil dependence and modernize supply chains. Al-Rumaih credited this vision for positioning the Kingdom as a natural global logistics hub due to its strategic location connecting three continents.

Al-Rumaih also highlighted the private sector’s rapid growth and strategic partnerships with major global players like CEVA, DSV, and DB Schenker as a response to Vision 2030’s call for collaboration and innovation.

Bader Al-Dulami, vice minister of transport and logistics services for road affairs, stressed the importance of infrastructure in the logistics sector’s success, particularly emphasizing the critical role of road connectivity in enabling efficient supply chains.

Driving Road Safety and Sustainability

Al-Dulami highlighted Saudi Arabia’s achievement in reducing accident rates through sustained investment and planning, aiming to further decrease the number of road fatalities by 2030. He announced plans for phase two of performance-based maintenance contracts incorporating advanced technologies for road sustainability.
