In the heart of the Kingdom’s southwest, a group of 15 Saudi women are immersing themselves in the intricate world of wicker weaving. Thanks to a training program organized by the Herfa Institute of Handicrafts, these women are honing their skills in this traditional craft that has deep roots in Najran.

From baskets to bags and decorative items, the trainees are mastering the art of creating beautiful wicker products. The month-long course, scheduled until August 27, aims to preserve and promote this age-old craft that has been a part of Najran’s heritage for centuries.

The ultimate goal is to empower these women as entrepreneurs and breathe new life into this ancient craft that is experiencing a resurgence in Najran. With government support and a growing interest in sustainable and handmade products, wicker weaving is once again flourishing in this region.
