Royal Commission for AlUla Unveils First Annual Sustainability Report
The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) has recently revealed its inaugural Annual Sustainability Report, a significant step in its mission to transform the region into a global hub for cultural, social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
Commitment to Responsible Development
The report showcases RCU’s accomplishments and dedication to responsible development in alignment with national and global sustainability frameworks, including the Saudi Green Initiative, Vision 2030, and UN goals.
Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan’s Vision
According to RCU’s Governor Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the commission is embarking on an ambitious journey to fulfill the goals of the AlUla Vision, derived from the spirit of Saudi Vision 2030.
Transformative Achievements and Successes
RCU’s achievements include raising AlUla’s Heritage Sustainability Index to 75 percent, exceeding the initial target of 63 percent. Visitor satisfaction at heritage sites reached 96 percent, reflecting the commission’s commitment to delivering exceptional experiences while preserving AlUla’s cultural and historical landmarks.
Social and Educational Development
RCU has made significant progress in social and educational development, providing 747 university scholarships to local students and supporting the education of the next generation. Community satisfaction stands at 90 percent, with initiatives such as the Hammayah Programme creating employment opportunities and training local leaders.
Economic Growth and Job Creation
With a focus on economic sustainability, RCU has created over 6,000 jobs in tourism-related sectors by the end of 2023. Initiatives like Vibes AlUla have supported local entrepreneurs, leading to the establishment of new enterprises and job opportunities.
