Riyadh to Showcase Camel Industry at UN FAO Meeting

In a bold move to promote the camel industry, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gearing up to make a statement at the upcoming UN Food and Agriculture Organization meeting in Rome this week, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.

From June 10 to 14, the exhibition will serve as a platform to showcase locally manufactured products that play a crucial role in food security and health in Saudi Arabia.

But it’s not just about products – the exhibition will also highlight the cultural significance of camels in Saudi Arabian society, emphasizing their importance beyond just economic value.

The Kingdom’s participation in the FAO’s council meeting is no coincidence. It aligns perfectly with its co-chairmanship of the International Year of Camelids 2024, showcasing its commitment to the camel industry on a global scale.

Leading the charge is Ahmed Al-Eyada, the undersecretary at the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, and chairman of the steering committee for the International Year of Camelids 2024. With his guidance, the Kingdom’s delegation is set to make a lasting impression at the meeting.

A total of more than 13 government agencies and private sector companies will be present at the exhibition, each showcasing a wide array of food, medical, and cosmetic products derived from camels. This diverse range of products serves as a testament to the versatility and importance of camels in Saudi Arabia’s economy and culture.
