Nestled in the Eastern Villages: The Historic Al-Tahimiyyah Al-Sharqi Mosque
Hidden among the eastern villages of Al-Ahsa governorate, just 12 km from Hofuf, lies the enchanting village of Al-Tahimiya, whispering tales of a distant past to all who visit.
One of the gems of Al-Tahimiya is the Al-Tahimiyyah Al-Sharqi Mosque, a true testament to the region’s rich heritage, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Dating back to the Ottoman era, the Al-Tahimiyyah Al-Sharqi Mosque stands tall as a survivor. Its mud walls, nestled against the slopes of Mount Al-Qara, hint at an even older history, reflecting architectural styles of eras long gone.
The intricate design of the mosque includes three porticoes, an internal courtyard, and an external wall. A traditional palm-frond-thatched roof completes the picturesque scene, alongside a single side door.
Named after the village of Al-Tahimiya and situated by the Al-Zuhairi River, the mosque attracts visitors from far and wide, not just from Al-Ahsa governorate, but also from across the Arabian Gulf and beyond. Its proximity to the historically significant Mount Al-Qara only adds to its allure.
Guests flock to admire the unique structure and interior of the mosque, often capturing photos against the backdrop of palm trees and the majestic Jabal Al-Qarah mountains.
With a capacity for approximately 50 worshippers and an ablution area outside, the Al-Tahimiyyah Al-Sharqi Mosque stands as a symbol of the region’s rich history and cultural heritage.
