Red Sea Global Diving Centers Leading the Way in Saudi Arabia
In an exciting development, two diving centers owned by Red Sea Global have become the first in Saudi Arabia to be certified to train scuba divers with disabilities. This groundbreaking achievement was reported by the Saudi Press Agency on Sunday.
Setting the Standard with a Five-Star Rating
The diving centers located at Nujuma, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, and Turtle Bay have been awarded a prestigious five-star rating from the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. This recognition highlights their expertise in providing diving experiences in challenging locations.
Ensuring Inclusivity and Accessibility
To receive this rating, each center had to meet strict criteria, including having instructors trained in disability-adaptive techniques and ensuring wheelchair access to all areas. This includes the diving zone and any boats used for diving experiences.
Instructors underwent three days of intensive training, both in a swimming pool and open water. They practiced diving with limited mobility, using mesh swimming gloves and a blacked-out mask to simulate visual impairment. Additionally, they learned how to effectively guide divers with disabilities.
Creating a Welcoming and Supportive Environment
Rosanna Chopra, the executive director of destination development at Red Sea Global, emphasized the company’s commitment to inclusivity in diving. She highlighted how the centers’ infrastructure, logistics, communication methods, training, and safety protocols have all been tailored to accommodate divers of all abilities. This ensures a welcoming and supportive experience for everyone who visits the Red Sea Global diving centers.
