Saudi Arabia’s Qiddiya City to Host Region’s Largest Water Theme Park

Riyadh: In a groundbreaking announcement on Monday, Qiddiya Investment Co. revealed plans to construct the largest water theme park in the region as part of its Six Flags Qiddiya City project. The park, named Aquarabia, aims to attract visitors from around the world with its 22 attractions and unique water experiences suitable for all family members, including some “world-first” attractions, as reported by Saudi Press Agency.

Some of the notable attractions at Aquarabia will include the world’s first double water loop, the tallest water coaster with the highest jump, the longest and highest water racing track, and the tallest water slide.

Immersive Water Adventures and Sustainability

Aquarabia will offer the first underwater adventure trip with diving vehicles, catering to adventure enthusiasts with water sports areas for rafting, kayaking, canoeing, free solo climbing, and cliff jumping. The park will also feature the Kingdom’s first surfing pool, with immersive design elements inspired by ancient desert water springs and Qiddiya’s wildlife.

With a focus on sustainability, Aquarabia will implement advanced systems to reduce water waste by up to 90 percent and decrease energy consumption. As part of the Six Flags Qiddiya project, the venture aims to recycle operational waste and divert over 80 percent from landfill.

Opening in 2025

Scheduled to open in 2025, both Aquarabia and Six Flags Qiddiya City will be located within Qiddiya City, creating a fully walkable neighborhood with a variety of activities, accommodations, dining options, and relaxation spots. Abdullah Al-Dawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Co., hailed the projects as a significant milestone for the entertainment, tourism, and sports sectors in the Kingdom.

These projects aim to meet the diverse entertainment needs of visitors while contributing to economic diversification and job creation in the tourism sector. They also align with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to enhance local tourism and employment opportunities.

The unveiling of Aquarabia follows the announcement of other entertainment, sports, and cultural attractions in Qiddiya, including the world’s first multi-use gaming and electronic sports area, the multi-sport Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, and the Dragon Ball amusement park.
