Inauguration and Key Workshops

The forum kicked off with an inauguration ceremony led by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli. Under the theme “Water Sustainability … Our Responsibility,” the event set the stage for a series of insightful workshops.

One of the highlights was a workshop on “Getting Started with MODFLOW for Groundwater Modeling,” presented by a speaker from the US Geological Survey. Saudi Aramco also made its mark with sessions on “Water Conservation” and “Water Safety Plan.”

Exploring Future Projects and Opportunities

The National Water Co. took the spotlight as it presented its future projects and investment opportunities, showcasing its commitment to capital projects, operation contracts, and industry localization in the water sector. The Saudi Irrigation Organization also made waves with a workshop on “Innovative Techniques to Enhance Irrigation Efficiency and Agricultural Sustainability.”

Meanwhile, the Saline Water Conversion Corp. delved into discussions on innovation and challenges related to emerging technologies, paving the way for a more sustainable water sector.

International Collaboration and Initiatives

The forum wasn’t just limited to local players. The Saudi Water Partnership Co. outlined its services and future projects, while several UN organizations hosted a discussion on “The Role of International Organizations in Developing the Water Sector.”

From “Water Treatment and Digital Solutions” by K-Water Corp. to “Non-Revenue Water Management” by the Turkish Society for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technologies, the forum was a melting pot of ideas and solutions.

A Vision for the Future

In his opening remarks, Al-Fadhli emphasized Saudi Arabia’s dedication to addressing water challenges and implementing strategic projects across the Kingdom. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, the forum highlighted the pivotal role of the water sector in advancing national goals.

Saudi Arabia’s initiatives, including the establishment of the Global Water Organization in Riyadh, underscore the Kingdom’s commitment to global water challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As the world’s largest producer of desalinated water, Saudi Arabia is leading the charge towards a more sustainable future for all.
