Saudi Green Initiative Forum to Showcase Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Resilience
In Riyadh, the fourth edition of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum is gearing up to highlight nature-based solutions for climate resilience and community adaptation. Running from Dec. 3 to 4, the event will coincide with the 16th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, focusing on addressing global environmental challenges.
Preserving Biodiversity and Combatting Land Degradation
One of the key objectives of the forum is to emphasize the crucial role of natural solutions in helping communities adapt to climate change. Efforts to preserve Saudi Arabia’s rich biodiversity will also be highlighted, aligning with the UNCCD’s target of restoring 15 billion hectares of land by 2030.
Interactive Exhibition and Dialogues
At the Riyadh COP16 conference, the SGI exhibition will offer interactive experiences for visitors to learn about the Kingdom’s initiatives in reducing emissions, planting trees, and environmental protection. The exhibition will also feature the “Saudi Green Initiative Dialogues” series, bringing together international experts to discuss climate trends and sustainability innovations.
Commitment to Climate Action and Net Zero Emissions
Launched in 2021, the Saudi Green Initiative aims to engage all sectors of society in climate action, supporting the Kingdom’s goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2060. By addressing challenges like rising temperatures, desertification, and low rainfall, Saudi Arabia is working towards building a sustainable future for future generations.
Global Cooperation for Environmental Protection
The hosting of COP16 demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental protection. As the largest multilateral conference ever hosted by the Kingdom, it serves as a platform for global cooperation to drive necessary changes and actions for the future of the planet.
