Saudi Producer Farah Al-Ibrahim’s Groundbreaking Digital Art Show to Debut in Dubai
DUBAI: Brace yourselves for an awe-inspiring experience as Saudi producer Farah Al-Ibrahim’s latest digital art exhibition, “Pearls of Emotions,” is all set to premiere at the Theater of Digital Art in Dubai on Dec. 2.
Presented by her production company Artellosa, Al-Ibrahim shared with Arab News her aspirations for this show, which delves into the fascinating history of pearl diving in the Gulf, aiming to captivate viewers and offer them a fresh perspective on the region and its culture.
“I feel a deep connection to pearls and our bond with the sea. But merely understanding this culture is not enough. We must preserve it and showcase it to a global audience,” she expressed.
The drive to engage a diverse audience is a pivotal element of the experience, with “Pearls of Emotions” featuring a distinctive musical score blending traditional Gulf melodies with contemporary sounds to entice visitors from all corners of the world, as well as younger generations seeking a modern interpretation of Gulf heritage.
“Many believe our civilization began with the influx of oil money into the region. This is a misconception. It is our responsibility to shift that narrative and showcase the beauty and richness of our culture,” Al-Ibrahim asserted.
“Pearls of Emotions” narrates the poignant tale of a newlywed bride bidding farewell to her husband as he embarks on a pearl diving expedition shortly after their wedding, Al-Ibrahim explained.
The exhibition comprises seven segments, each delving into a specific emotion such as love, resilience, strength, pride, and more, offering a comprehensive narrative.
Embark on a 360° immersive journey through time at TODA, an expansive 1,800-square-meter immersive art hub nestled in Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
Al-Ibrahim turned to AI technology to craft the visuals for this art showcase. She described the process as a challenge due to the lack of Arab world data in AI databases.
Drawing insights from her family’s extensive history in the industry, Al-Ibrahim gathered details on ships, sailors, and diving experiences to feed into AI programs, enabling the generation of vivid depictions of these narratives.
“It is crucial to document these stories, even if through AI,” she emphasized.
