Riyadh’s Beit Hail Festival Showcases Rich Culinary Traditions

The third annual Beit Hail Festival, themed “Our Home is Your Home … Oh, My Beloved,” is a celebration of the region’s vibrant culinary heritage, with a special focus on Hail’s famous klaija dessert.

Klaija, a traditional pastry deeply rooted in Saudi culture, has captivated visitors with its variety of shapes and preparation methods.

In an interview with the Saudi Press Agency, 55-year-old klaija artisan Umm Mohammed shared her journey of perfecting the craft since the age of 7, using charcoal for baking and constantly innovating over the past 45 years.

The key to klaija’s unique flavor lies in each maker’s secret spice blend, along with essential ingredients like flour, sugar, and cardamom. (SPA)
