Assouline Releases New Book Celebrating AlUla’s Diverse Flora

Luxury publishing house Assouline has unveiled their latest addition to the “Classics Collection” with the release of the book titled “AlUla Flora.” This new publication shines a spotlight on the rich plant life found in the ancient oasis city of AlUla.

Highlighting Over 80 Plant Species

The book showcases more than 80 plant species that thrive in AlUla’s diverse landscapes. From rocky sandstone outcrops to vast desert plains and a lush oasis filled with natural springs, the flora of AlUla is as varied as it is beautiful.

Ecological Value and Cultural Significance

Among the plants featured in the book are the Hispid Viper’s Bugloss, the Spiny Milkvetch, and the jujube tree, each highlighted for their ecological importance and cultural significance in local traditions. From Bedouin crafts to ancient culinary uses, these plants play a vital role in the community.

Conservation Efforts and Ecological Restoration

“AlUla Flora” also sheds light on the conservation efforts underway to restore and rewild the city’s ecosystems. Phillip Jones, chief tourism officer at the Royal Commission for AlUla, emphasized the importance of nurturing the botanical richness of the region to protect its ecological vibrancy.

In a statement, Jones stated that the book serves as a visual narrative of AlUla’s commitment to preserving its verdant life and creating a deeper connection with nature for both visitors and locals alike.
