In Al-Mandaq Governorate, a farmer has transformed his passion into a booming tourism venture. Ahmed Al-Barouqi, the owner of Al-Barouqi Tourist Farm in the northwest of Al-Baha, utilizes the region’s mild climate and natural beauty to draw in visitors.

Saudi Press Agency caught up with Al-Barouqi at his farm in Al-Tarf, Wadi Rusba. Reflecting on his 27-year journey with agriculture, he shared, “Growing up surrounded by farms inspired me to invest in Al-Tarf village. We have beautiful memories of planting grape, almond, and fruit trees here.”

With a vision to create a rural tourism model that complements the natural features and climate of the region, Al-Barouqi rehabilitated the farm while preserving its agricultural terraces, famous trees, and old wells. He also introduced paved paths, seating areas, and scenic views of the valley.

The farm’s success in implementing drip irrigation for strawberry crops aligns with the goals of Vision 2030, adding value to the farm and attracting visitors. By offering diverse products and experimenting with various crops, Al-Barouqi aims for self-sufficiency in local markets.

Al-Barouqi emphasized the farm’s role in creating job opportunities for the youth and establishing productive families in the region. With a comprehensive development plan in place, the farm aims to pioneer commercial projects that offer a unique tourism experience in Al-Baha.
