Discover the Top Benefits and Risks of Tech at Ithra’s Digital Wellbeing Summit

The Return of the Sync Digital Wellbeing Summit 2024

After a two-year break, the second Sync Digital Wellbeing Summit 2024 is back at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, or Ithra, with a bang this week. World-leading experts will gather for discussions and debates on all things technology and wellness.

Exploring the Digital Paradox

Scheduled for May 22 and 23, the summit will feature 110 digital experts and 70 speakers from 20 different countries. The theme for this year’s event is “Confronting the Digital Paradox,” tackling topics such as algorithmic homogenization, AI’s impact on creative industries, and misinformation.

A Platform for Meaningful Discussions

Head of digital wellbeing at Sync, Wadha Al-Nafjan, emphasized the importance of the Sync Summit as a platform for meaningful discussions, critical reflections, and collective actions for a better digital future. The event aims to navigate the digital paradox and shape a world we want to live in.

A Look at the Summit Agenda

Day one will focus on wrestling with the tensions of the digital era, featuring seven panels, two fireside chats, and two keynote talks. Day two will center on shaping our relationship with digital for a better future, with eight panels, three keynotes, and the Sync Spotlight series finale.

Insights from Global Research

Despite the absence of a summit last year, the Sync team conducted extensive global research. Findings revealed concerns about personal data collection, struggles to maintain work-life boundaries, and the belief that the internet needs more regulation. Participants also expressed views on social media addiction and the impact of technology on flexibility in work and study.

Ensuring a Positive Digital Future

As technology continues to shape our lives, Ithra emphasized the importance of keeping digital technology in check and working towards the greater good. The summit activities aim to bridge the gap between research, industry practices, and end-users regarding digital wellbeing.

Exciting Summit Features

The event will include interactive sessions, a Gen Alpha Forum, and sessions exploring digital wellbeing with educators and researchers. Attendees can also expect gamified experiences, immersive journeys, podcast recordings, and insights from notable speakers like Rumman Chowdhury, Abdulaziz Alshehri, and Steve Wozniak.

Global Digital Wellbeing Assembly

Prior to the summit, on May 21, Ithra will host the Global Digital Wellbeing Assembly, bringing together experts to discuss the guiding objectives and roadmap for a new digital wellbeing society. Registration is now open, and attendance is free.
